Gantry Steelwork

Our vast experience in crane engineering enables us to design and manufacture steelworks for over head cranes. This includes all manufacturers from Street, Morris, GH and many more with safe working loads of up to 250 Tonnes. We also design and manufacture goliath crane floor rails and floor plates, ladder systems and maintenance walkway platforms.

Gantry Steelwork Design & Manufacturing

The steelwork can be fully free standing or tied back to the building structure. Alternatively, if the building is designed to support the overhead crane, brackets can be bolted or welded to the building columns to support crane tracks.

All of our gantry steelwork is fully cleaned or shot blasted and then painted to the customer’s specifications and finished to the required paint colour.

Quality is of the upmost importance here at E&C. We adhere to ISO 9001 and comply with CE Mark standards.

When refurbishing used cranes and lifting equipment, or manufacturing brand new cranes, we conform to a strict quality control procedure at all times. We manufacture our gantry cranes in accordance with BS466 and BSEN 1.5011:2011.

Our team of highly experienced crane specialists and engineers understand the importance of safety, therefore rigorous standards and safe working practises are always adhered to when working on any crane installation or relocation.

FAQs

Importance of Proper Installation Techniques

Proper installation techniques are the backbone of any successful crane gantry steelwork project. When executed correctly, these techniques ensure the structure’s integrity and longevity. A poorly installed gantry can lead to catastrophic failures, risking not only the equipment but also the safety of personnel working in the vicinity. Thus, understanding and applying the right methods not only enhances the operational efficiency of the crane but also guarantees compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Moreover, the economic implications of proper installation cannot be overlooked. Investing time and resources into mastering installation techniques can reduce maintenance costs and extend the lifespan of the gantry system. Properly installed steelwork minimises wear and tear, ensuring that the crane operates at peak performance. This, in turn, translates to higher productivity on construction sites, as projects can proceed without the delays caused by equipment failures. Therefore, committing to learning and implementing effective installation techniques is essential for both safety and cost-efficiency.

Lastly, achieving proficiency in installation techniques promotes a culture of excellence within the construction team. As workers gain expertise, they are likely to take greater pride in their work, leading to a more collaborative and motivated environment. This positive atmosphere enhances problem-solving capabilities and fosters innovation, ultimately benefiting the entire project. By prioritising proper installation techniques, construction professionals not only safeguard their work but also uplift their teams, contributing to a more skilled and dedicated workforce.

Preparing for Crane Gantry Steelwork Installation

Preparation is key to a successful crane gantry steelwork installation. Before commencing any physical work, it is essential to conduct a thorough site assessment. This assessment includes evaluating the ground conditions, access points for equipment, and the overall layout of the installation area. Understanding the existing environmental conditions helps identify potential challenges that may arise during the installation process, enabling teams to devise effective strategies to mitigate risks.

Additionally, assembling the right tools and materials is critical to ensure a smooth installation. This includes not only the steel components of the gantry but also the necessary tools such as cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment. Having these items on-site ahead of time prevents unnecessary delays and allows for a more streamlined workflow. Furthermore, reviewing the installation plans and specifications in detail is vital, as it helps to clarify each step of the process and ensures that all team members are on the same page.

Lastly, communication plays a pivotal role in the preparation phase. Conducting pre-installation meetings allows for the dissemination of important information among team members, outlining individual roles and responsibilities. This fosters teamwork and ensures that everyone is aware of the installation timeline and procedures. By prioritising thorough preparation, teams can set themselves up for success, reducing the likelihood of errors and enhancing overall safety during the installation process.

Safety Measures During the Installation Process

Safety is paramount when installing crane gantry steelwork, and adherence to established safety measures is essential to protect workers and equipment. First and foremost, all personnel involved in the installation must be equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots, which collectively help mitigate the risk of injury from falling objects and other hazards present on the construction site.

Furthermore, implementing a comprehensive safety plan is critical. This plan should outline emergency procedures, communication protocols, and the specific roles of team members during the installation. Regular safety briefings can reinforce the importance of following these protocols and enable workers to voice any concerns regarding safety. By fostering a culture of safety, teams are more likely to remain vigilant and proactive in identifying potential hazards before they escalate into serious incidents.

In addition to personnel safety, ensuring the structural integrity of the equipment used during installation is vital. Regular inspections of cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment should be conducted to verify that all machinery is functioning correctly and is free from defects. Proper rigging techniques must also be employed to secure the gantry components during lifting and manoeuvring, minimising the likelihood of accidents. By prioritising safety measures throughout the installation process, teams can create a secure working environment that protects both individuals and the integrity of the project.
